Flowers: a singing garden where symbols count twice

The garden choir

NetEnt's Flowers is a cheerful game: each symbol is a flower with a personality, from a sunflower to a rose, and they sing and wiggle when they win. The layout is five reels, three rows and 30 paylines, which keeps small wins coming steadily. If you have heard the Flowers jingle once, you will probably be humming it for the rest of the day.

Double symbols

The idea that makes Flowers different is the double symbol. Some flowers appear in a double version, occupying a single position but counting as two of that symbol. A line that looks like three of a kind can therefore pay as four or five. Reading the screen takes a moment of adjustment, and that's part of the fun: what seems like a modest line can turn out to be the top combination for that flower.

The same goes for the scatter. Ordinary and double scatters both count towards the free spins trigger, so you need fewer symbols on screen than the count suggests. The more scatters you collect, the more free spins you start with, and the round also uses the double symbols to push wins further. The wild completes lines in the usual way.

Getting to know Flowers in free play

The Flowers demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits with no download and no sign-up. Some suggestions for a first session:

• Use a stake equivalent to £0.30 to cover all 30 lines at the smallest coin.
• For the first 50 spins, pause on every win and check how the doubles were counted.
• Play on to at least two free spins rounds and compare how many scatters started each one.

Flowers or Flowers Christmas Edition?

The Christmas version keeps the double-symbol rules with snow and festive decorations. The original is the one to learn first. The same game is available for real money at the casinos below.
