Crazy Monkey 2: the sequel to Igrosoft's jungle favourite

Same jungle, second visit

Sequels to arcade classics rarely start from scratch, and Crazy Monkey 2 is no exception. Igrosoft kept the cartoon monkey, the five-reel, three-row layout and the adjustable lines, along with the playful sound design that made the first game so recognisable in gaming halls.

What you notice first is the refreshed artwork. The symbols are cleaner and the scene feels busier, but anyone who has played the original will find their way around in seconds. The monkey still works as the wild, and the bonus is still the reason to keep spinning.

The bonus scene

As in the first game, bonus symbols on an active line take you away from the reels and into a picking round. Each choice reveals a prize or brings the round to a close, and getting through the whole sequence opens a last pick for something bigger. It is quick, and the tension comes from not knowing which pick will be the final one.

The card gamble also returns: after a win, beat the dealer's card with one of four hidden cards to double the amount, or lose it if your card is lower.

Original or sequel?

Players argue about this endlessly, and the answer usually comes down to taste. The fairest test is practical. Open the Crazy Monkey 2 demo and the original in two tabs, set the same stake and the same number of lines, and play 100 spins in each. Note how often each one reaches its bonus and how long you stay in it.

Playing Crazy Monkey 2 free

You get 1,000 virtual credits, no sign-up and no download, on desktop or mobile. A stake equivalent to £0.45 with every line active gives a realistic picture. Leave the gamble alone for the first session; it can wipe out a good run faster than the reels ever will. The game is also available for real money at the casinos below.
