Shining Hot 5: five lines, a hot seven and nothing in the way

No storyline, no characters, no cut-scenes. Shining Hot 5 opens straight onto a bright fruit-machine screen with a handful of paylines and a big lucky seven at the top of the paytable. If you are curious, the Shining Hot 5 demo lets you try it with 1,000 virtual credits and no account.

The smallest of the Shining Hot family

Pragmatic Play released the Shining Hot range in several sizes, with the number in the name telling you how many paylines are in play. Shining Hot 5 has just five fixed lines, which makes every win easy to trace by eye: you see the line light up and know exactly why it paid. The bigger versions spread the stake over many more lines and feel busier; this one is the most stripped back, with fewer small wins and clearer individual hits.

Symbols and the scatter

The classic fruit set does the work: cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes and watermelons, with the seven as the premium symbol. A star scatter pays wherever it lands, so it can produce a win even when nothing lines up. There is no free spins round to wait for, which keeps the rhythm steady: you spin, see the result in a second and spin again.

How to test it in free play

• Play 100 spins at a fixed stake and note how many paid anything at all.
• Count how often scatters arrive in twos and threes, as they provide much of the variety.
• Compare with a bigger Shining Hot version if you have time: the difference in hit frequency is the whole point of the range.
