Sugar Rush: clusters, gummy bears and spots that keep doubling

Gummy bears, jelly hearts and sugared stars bounce onto a big square board framed by a candy factory. It looks cheerful and simple, but Sugar Rush has one of the more interesting multiplier systems in Pragmatic Play's catalogue. Clusters on a seven-by-seven board

Wins come from clusters: five or more identical symbols touching horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols explode and new sweets tumble in from above, so one spin can chain several wins together. Big clusters pay far more than small ones, and the gummy bears are the premium pieces.

Multiplier spots

This is the part worth studying in the Sugar Rush demo. When a symbol explodes, its position on the grid is marked. If another win explodes on that marked spot during the same spin, the spot becomes a multiplier, starting at two and doubling each time a further win hits it, up to a cap. When several multiplier spots sit under one cluster, their values are added together. In the base game the marks clear once the spin finishes, which is why long tumble chains are the ones to hope for.

Free spins where the marks stay

Three or more scatters start the free spins, and more scatters award a larger number of spins. During the round the marked spots and their multipliers stay on the board from spin to spin. The grid gradually turns into a patchwork of highlighted squares, and the later spins of a long bonus can be worth far more than the early ones.

How to read your test session

• Spend at least 150 spins in the Sugar Rush free play.
• Watch where clusters form: the centre of the board tends to collect more marks.
• In the bonus, count how many multiplier spots exist by the halfway point.

The Sugar Rush slot adapts well to phones, though the big grid is easiest to follow in landscape. The same game is available for real money at the casinos below.
