Tales of Egypt: scarabs, gods and a chest of gold

A green scarab with spread wings sits in the middle of the line-up, flanked by a blue winged beetle, a black Bastet cat, a gold Anubis and a jewelled ankh. Below them, a chest of treasure glows against hieroglyph-covered papyrus. Tales of Egypt is from an earlier period of Pragmatic Play's catalogue, and it shows in the calm, illustrated style. The Tales of Egypt demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits, no account and no download.

A classic take on a classic theme

Ancient Egypt is one of the most used themes in slots, and Pragmatic Play has returned to it several times since. Tales of Egypt is the gentler, more traditional version: the symbols are drawn like museum pieces, the soundtrack is soft and the pace is unhurried. If you like the setting but find the newer Egyptian slots too loud, this one is worth a look.

Why this page is short

Tales of Egypt is rarely discussed today, so we will not pretend to know every detail of its bonus. The paytable inside the game lists the lines, the symbol values and any free spins or special symbol, and it is the most reliable source for the version you are playing. Read it once before you start.

Testing it in free play

• Check the paytable for the wild and scatter, and note which god or relic pays most.
• Play 150 spins at a fixed stake to get a feel for how often wins land.
• Compare the mood with another Egyptian slot if you have one in mind: the older style is the main difference.
