Shining Hot 20: cherries, sevens and nothing to get in the way

Some players want a story, a hero and three layers of bonus rounds. Others want lemons, plums, watermelons and a red seven, spinning fast. Shining Hot 20 is firmly for the second group. Pragmatic Play dressed it in flame reds and golds, gave it the arcade glow of an old fruit machine, and kept the rules short enough to learn in a minute.

The layout and the symbols

The grid is the traditional five reels by three rows, and the 20 in the name refers to the paylines, which are fixed. Wins pay left to right along those lines. The fruit sit at the lower and middle end of the paytable, with the seven at the top. A star acts as the scatter and pays when enough of them land anywhere on the reels, independent of the lines. There is no elaborate bonus round: the action comes from line wins and those star payouts.

Where it sits in the Shining Hot range

The series comes in several sizes, and the number tells you the line count. Shining Hot 5 is the most bare-bones; Shining Hot 40 and Shining Hot 100 move to a taller four-row grid with far more lines. The 20-line version sits in between: wins come regularly enough to keep the balance moving, without the busy screen of the bigger editions.

Playing Shining Hot 20 free

You get 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no sign-up. A sensible test is 200 quick spins at a flat stake, around 20p, with turbo on if you like the pace. Watch two things: how often a star payout lands, and how the balance drifts over the session. Classic games like this reveal their character over volume, not over a handful of spins. The demo works just as well on a phone, where the large fruit symbols stay easy to read.
