Book of El Dorado: chasing the city of gold

The legend behind the reels

El Dorado, the city of gold that explorers never found, is a natural fit for a slot. Pragmatic Play's version puts the legend in a book format: jungle ruins, gold idols and treasure-hunter symbols, with a book at the centre of the action. The colours lean warm, all ochre and gold against green foliage, which sets it apart from the cooler Viking and night-time Egyptian entries in the same family.

The book does what it does in every game of this type. It substitutes on the paylines, and landing enough of them anywhere starts free spins with a symbol that expands over the reels whenever it forms a win.

What we'd confirm in the paytable

Rather than repeat specifications we haven't checked for this title, here's where to look. In the demo, open the information screens and confirm the number of lines, the free spins award, the way the expanding symbol is picked and whether the game adds anything beyond the standard book bonus. Note too which symbols sit at the top of the paytable; the bonus lives or dies on what gets chosen to expand.

Book of El Dorado demo: a simple test

You get 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no sign-up. Play 200 spins at a stake equivalent to £0.50 and keep two numbers in your head: spins between bonuses and the average bonus total. Then try a second session at a lower stake, around £0.20, and see whether the smaller bet stretches your balance enough to reach more features. It's a useful exercise before risking real money on any book slot.

No bonus buy is available in this version, so the free spins come from scatters only. The same game runs for real money at the casinos below.
