Christmas Big Bass Bonanza: the fishing trip in a Santa hat

Snow on the pier, fairy lights on the tackle box and a jingle that never quite lets you forget what time of year it is. Christmas Big Bass Bonanza is the seasonal edition of Pragmatic Play’s best-known fishing slot, and it changes the scenery far more than the rules. If you have played the original Big Bass Bonanza, the game itself will feel familiar from the first spin. Here you can play Christmas Big Bass Bonanza free with 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no sign-up.

The reels and the fish

The game runs on five reels and three rows with fixed paylines. Alongside the usual card ranks and fishing gear, fish symbols land carrying money values. In the base game those fish simply pay as symbols; their printed values only come alive during the bonus.

Free spins and the fisherman

Scatters trigger the free spins. During the round the fisherman appears as a wild, and every time he lands he collects the money values of all the fish on screen at that moment. A spin with three or four fish and no fisherman is a near miss you will see often; a spin where he lands next to a screen full of fish is what the game is built around.

Fishermen landed during the round are counted. Every fourth one retriggers extra spins and raises a multiplier applied to his later collections, so a long round becomes steadily more valuable as it goes on.

What is different from the original

The Christmas version is mostly a change of costume: winter artwork, festive music and seasonal symbol designs. The fish-and-fisherman mechanic is the same idea, so the choice between the two is largely about mood. If you want to see whether the festive edition behaves any differently for you, try them back to back in demo mode.

Testing tips

Free spins can take a while to come, so allow 300 spins. When the round lands, count fish versus fishermen and watch whether you reach the first retrigger. The real-money version is available at the casinos below.
