Cleocatra: Egypt, with a cat on the throne

Pragmatic Play has released plenty of Egyptian slots, and the obvious way to stand out in a crowded pyramid is a pun. Cleocatra swaps the famous queen for a regal cat in a golden headdress, surrounded by scarabs, ankhs and hieroglyph-carved stone. The tone is lighter than the usual tomb-raiding fare, though the reels still take themselves seriously enough. You can play Cleocatra free on this page with 1,000 virtual credits, with no download and no sign-up.

Learning the game before you judge it

Cleocatra is less widely covered than the studio’s headline titles, so rather than lean on second-hand summaries, the best guide is the in-game paytable. Open it before your first spin: it shows which symbols pay most, what the special symbols do and how the bonus is triggered. Ten minutes with the rules and a hundred spins will teach you more than any review.

Cleocatra among the studio’s Egyptian slots

Pragmatic Play has several games set along the Nile, including Egyptian Fortunes and Fortune of Giza. Cleocatra is the one with a sense of humour: the cat motif runs through the symbols and the artwork, and it gives the game a personality the more solemn tomb settings lack. If you enjoy the theme but find the usual sandstone gloom a bit heavy, that alone makes it worth a look.

What to watch in the Cleocatra demo

• How often the base game pays something back, and how large a typical win is compared with the stake.
• Which symbol appears around the bigger wins – usually the queen herself or the special symbols described in the rules.
• How long it takes for the feature to show up, and how much it adds to the session when it does.

Play at least 250 spins at a single stake so the numbers mean something. If the feature has not appeared by then, that is useful information too: it tells you how patient the real-money version will ask you to be. The same Cleocatra slot runs for real money at the casinos below.
