Halloween Fortune: witches, cauldrons and a brewing bonus

A coven on the reels

Halloween Fortune was one of Playtech's first proper Halloween slots, and it still has a loyal following every October. The artwork is cartoon spooky rather than frightening: grinning witches, black cats, potion bottles, bats and a bubbling cauldron, all lit in greens and purples. Card ranks fill out the lower part of the paytable.

It is a five-reel line slot, and its appeal comes from having more than one feature to chase rather than a single bonus.

The features

A witch is linked to the wild, filling in lines when she lands. The game then offers two separate rewards: free games triggered by scatter symbols, and a bonus game built around the witches' cauldron, where you make picks to reveal what the brew contains. Each feature has its own trigger, so a spin can be exciting for different reasons.

For the precise number of free games and how the cauldron bonus pays, open the paytable. It is short, and once you've read it you'll recognise each feature as soon as it starts.

A Halloween Fortune demo plan

The demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no sign-up. Some suggestions:

• Play 250 spins at a stake equivalent to £0.20.
• Keep a tally: how many free games rounds, how many cauldron bonuses.
• Compare the average result of each. It shows you which feature carries the game.

Halloween Fortune tends to deliver its value through these features rather than big base-game lines, so give it enough spins to see each one more than once.

Halloween Fortune or a newer Halloween slot?

Newer games have more animation, but few are as clear about what you are hoping for. If you enjoy classic features in a festive skin, this is a good place to start. The same game is available for real money at the casinos below.
