Sizzling 6: the hot fruit machine with an extra reel

Where Sizzling 6 comes from

The Sizzling series is one of the best-known fruit slot families in Europe: cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes, watermelons and a burning red seven, with no free spins and no wilds. Greentube’s Sizzling 6 keeps that recipe and adds one thing, a sixth reel that you can choose to activate for a higher stake.

With the extra reel off, the game feels much like the five-reel version. With it on, winning combinations can stretch one symbol further, and the screen has more space for the star scatter to land.

The star scatter and the seven

The gold star is the scatter. It pays wherever it appears, without needing to sit on a line, and a screen with several stars is one of the nicer surprises in the game. The red seven is the highest line symbol. Everything else is fruit, with grapes and watermelons paying more than cherries and lemons.

There is no bonus round. Wins can be gambled on the colour of a card, as in the classic, and that is the only extra choice the game offers.

A demo plan for Sizzling 6

The Sizzling 6 demo comes with 1,000 virtual credits, no sign-up and no download. The question worth answering is whether the sixth reel earns its extra cost for you:

• play 200 spins on five reels at a stake equivalent to £0.10;
• play 200 spins with the sixth reel switched on;
• compare the number of star wins and seven combinations in each block.

Two blocks of spins are not proof of anything, but they give you a feel for both modes before you decide which one you prefer.

A classic for purists
