Book of Ra Deluxe: the explorer’s tomb, ten lines wide

What Deluxe changes from the classic

Anyone who played the original Book of Ra in a pub or arcade will recognise everything here: the explorer, the pharaoh mask, the scarab and the golden book that acts as both wild and scatter. Greentube’s Deluxe edition keeps the 5x3 layout but plays across ten lines instead of nine, and the artwork has been redrawn so the symbols are sharper on a phone screen. The sound of the reels stopping is the same, which matters more than you might think to fans of the series.

The free games and the expanding symbol

Three or more books anywhere on the reels start ten free games. Before they begin, one symbol is picked at random to become the special expanding symbol for the round. Whenever it lands in enough positions to pay, it grows to fill the whole reel, and it can pay on lines even when the symbols are not next to each other. The round can be retriggered by more books.

The symbol you are given decides almost everything. An explorer or pharaoh can turn the round into something memorable; a ten or a jack tends to produce a long string of small wins.

How to test it in the demo

The Book of Ra Deluxe demo runs with 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no sign-up. Play at a stake equivalent to £0.10 or £0.20 per spin so you can last long enough to see several bonus rounds; 300 spins is a reasonable sample. Write down which expanding symbol you got each time and what the round returned.

After a win you can try the gamble feature: guess the colour of the next card to double the amount, or collect. In demo it costs nothing, so it is the right place to see how quickly a run of guesses ends.

Who will enjoy it

This is a slot with no clutter: no cascades, no collect symbols, just lines and one strong feature. If you want to play Book of Ra Deluxe free before choosing it for real money, the same game is available at the casinos listed below.
