Rumpel Wildspins: the fairy tale of straw and gold

A Grimm story on five reels

Rumpelstiltskin is one of the darker fairy tales, and Rumpel Wildspins keeps a hint of that mood while staying playful. The reels sit inside a candlelit tower room, the spinning wheel is never far away, and the symbols include the little man himself, the miller’s daughter, the king and golden objects that recall the straw turned to gold. The illustrations have a storybook quality that suits the theme well, and the soundtrack adds a slightly mischievous edge, as if the little man were watching your every spin.

The features

As the name suggests, wilds are central to how the game plays, and the bonus round is where they matter most. To get the exact rules (which symbols trigger the free spins, how the wilds behave and what changes during the bonus) read the info pages before you start. They are short and clearly illustrated, and they describe the version you are actually playing.

Between features, line wins keep things moving. The premium symbols drawn from the story are the ones that make a real difference to the balance; the card values fill in the rest.

Spending your demo credits wisely

The Rumpel Wildspins demo starts you with 1,000 virtual credits, no sign-up and no download. Bonus-driven slots need a decent sample, so:

• play 300 to 400 spins at a stake equivalent to £0.20;
• write down when each bonus arrives and what it pays;
• pay attention to how the wilds appear in the base game compared with the bonus.

If your first bonus is a disappointment, keep going. The second or third will tell you more about the game’s character.

Who will enjoy it?

Fans of fairy-tale themes and players who like a feature with some personality. It is less suited to anyone who wants constant small wins, since much of the interest sits in the bonus.
