Only one swap works
Each bet lays out a fresh 7×7 board of sweets, and somewhere on it there is exactly one swap of two neighbouring pieces that lines up 3 or more identical sweets in a row or a column. Find it and the round plays out. If you are stuck, the right pair lights up after a few seconds, and there is a Hint button too. One detail is worth knowing from the start, because the game states it plainly: the result of each round is decided when you bet, so the swap you choose does not change the win. You are revealing the round, not steering it.
The poster sets a warm, slightly cheeky tone: a young confectioner with purple curls, brass goggles and glowing antennae winks as she hugs a jar full of fireflies, while an old chef with a white moustache and gauzy wings peers over her shoulder. Everything is pink, mint and gold. Nocturn Play's sweets follow suit: a starry drop, a moon twist, a planet bonbon, an owl macaron, a jelly star and a wrapped toffee.
Drops and special sweets
Matched sweets vanish and new ones fall in. If that creates another match, it is a new drop and the round multiplier goes up by one, to a maximum of ×10. Longer matches create special pieces:
- 4 in a line make a shooting star that sweeps its row or column;
- an L or T shape makes a lantern that bursts around itself;
- 5 or more make a crystal that clears a whole colour.
A special sweet bursts on the next drop and pays a little extra on top.
The firefly jar and Sugar Night
Every drop after the first, and every special sweet you create, frees a firefly into the jar. Collect 5 in the same round and Sugar Night begins. The jar empties at each new bet, so it is all or nothing per round.
During Sugar Night the board darkens and the fireflies light up tiles: sweets cleared on a lit tile pay double. You get 8 free moves, starting with 7 lit tiles and 2 more after each move. The multiplier starts at ×2, climbs by 2 with each drop and never goes back down, up to ×60. The maximum win in the game is 1,000× the bet.
How to play the free demo well
- Play 50 rounds by hand at a small stake, around £0.20. Finding the swap yourself is half the charm, and it teaches you to spot where long chains might start.
- Then switch to autoplay for another 100 rounds and watch the jar counter. The game tells you when you were one firefly short, and you will soon see how often the fifth actually arrives.
- When Sugar Night triggers, follow which lit tiles get cleared and how the multiplier builds over the 8 moves.
There is no bonus buy, so the demo is the place to see Sugar Night without paying for the wait.

Questions players ask
Does my choice of swap change what I win?
No. As the rules say, each round's result is set when you bet; the swap only reveals it. That is true in the demo and in the real-money version.
Can I play Firefly Sweets on a phone?
Yes. The board is designed for touch: tap or drag two neighbouring sweets to swap them in your mobile browser.
Is there a bonus buy for Sugar Night?
No. Sugar Night only starts when 5 fireflies reach the jar in a single round.
Do I need an account to play free?
No registration and no deposit. The demo starts with virtual credits.
