Inside Selene Vaux's workshop
The poster introduces the alchemist herself: pale lilac skin, brass goggles pushed up into silver hair, a swirling turquoise flask in her gloved hands and a small blue dragon perched on her shoulder, all framed by a huge crescent moon. Nocturn Play keeps the same soft violet light in the game, with vials and crystals that glow rather than flash.
The grid is 7 columns by 5 rows. A win needs 8 or more identical symbols touching each other, and here diagonals count as well as sides, which makes clusters form more readily than you might expect from that number. Winning symbols vanish, new ones drop in, and the sequence carries on for as long as fresh clusters appear.
Three phases of the moon
Above the grid, the moon grows with each drop: new moon, crescent, full moon. At full moon, the potion that is most common on the grid transmutes into a crystal, which is worth far more. Then a new moon begins. In practice this means long cascades are rewarded twice: once for the clusters themselves and again when a common vial turns into something valuable mid-sequence. The symbol set is simple: turquoise, violet, amber and rose vials, then small, medium and large crystals.
The bombs
A bomb hides a multiplier between ×2 and ×100 and stays on the grid during the drops. When the sequence ends, every bomb explodes, their values are added together and the total multiplies the spin's win, if there is one. Two bombs at ×5 and ×10 make ×15. A bomb on a spin with no win does nothing, which you will see often enough in the base game.
The Philosopher's Stone free spins
Four or more Philosopher's Stones anywhere pay an instant prize and award 10 free spins, 12 for five stones and 15 for six or more. During the bonus, bombs turn up much more often and the moon keeps its phase from one spin to the next, so you can watch a full moon approaching. Three more stones add 5 spins, four or more add 8, up to 60 free spins in total. The maximum win is 5,000× the bet.
How to approach the demo
- Set a stake, the equivalent of £0.50 for instance, and play 150 to 200 spins. Pay attention to how many drops a sequence lasts: the first drop brings the crescent, the second brings the full moon.
- Note how often a bomb lands on a spin that also wins. That pairing is where the base game's bigger amounts come from.
- Then try the bonus buy with virtual credits, at 60.18× the bet for 10 free spins. Three or four buys are enough to see how differently a round plays when bombs and a carried-over moon work together.
Autoplay can stop at the bonus, and turbo speeds up the cascades.
