Book of Queen: Cleopatra's turn at the book

Where it differs from Book of Pharao

Amatic has more than one Egyptian book slot, so it's fair to ask why this one exists. Book of Queen swaps the male pharaoh for a Cleopatra-style queen as the premium symbol and softens the look with turquoise, lapis and gold. Around her you'll find a falcon-headed god, a sphinx, an ankh and the usual card ranks on five reels and three rows.

The book still carries the game. It is wild in the base game and scatters for the bonus, so three anywhere on the reels are what you're waiting for.

The feature in practice

When the free games start, one symbol is drawn to become the expanding symbol for the round. Each time it appears on enough reels to form a win, it grows to fill those reels from top to bottom and pays across the lines. Books landing during the feature can award extra spins. The queen as the chosen symbol is the scenario players remember; a ten or a jack as the chosen symbol gives a busier, smaller round.

A card gamble is available after wins if you want to try doubling a payout. In the demo it costs nothing to experiment with.

Book of Queen free play: what to watch

The demo comes loaded with 1,000 virtual credits and runs with no download. Try 200 spins at about £0.10 and then 200 at £0.50 equivalent. The game doesn't change with stake, but your balance does, and seeing how fast a bigger stake burns through virtual credits between features is a useful lesson before playing for real.

Write down each special symbol you're given and the result of the round. After a handful of features, a pattern of mostly modest rounds and the occasional big one tends to emerge.

Verdict

Pick Book of Queen if you like the classic Egyptian book format but want a slightly more colourful screen. The same game runs for real money at the casinos below.
