Lucky New Year: Lunar New Year celebrations in free play

Red is everywhere in Lucky New Year, and for good reason: during the Lunar New Year it is the colour of luck, worn and hung on doors to keep misfortune away. Pragmatic Play fills the reels with that festive imagery, gold ingots, red envelopes, lanterns, firecrackers and dancing lions, set to a bright, celebratory soundtrack. Next to the quieter Lady of the Moon it is noisy and cheerful, built for short, upbeat sessions. You can play Lucky New Year free here with 1,000 virtual credits, without registering or downloading anything.

What is on the reels

Lucky New Year follows a classic line-slot layout. Festive treasures such as gold ingots and red envelopes form the premium symbols, and simpler icons fill the rest. A wild substitutes for regular symbols, and special symbols lead to the bonus round. The title is not among the studio's most widely covered, so instead of relying on hearsay, check the in-game paytable: it sets out the line count, the triggers and what the bonus adds in this version.

Testing Lucky New Year in demo mode

Festive themes put you in a good mood, which makes it easy to overlook how a game actually pays. Keep a simple record over 150 spins at a fixed stake of around £0.20:

• how many spins return something;
• how many beat the stake;
• when the bonus turns up and what it delivers.

Compare the bonus with the credits you spent waiting for it. If one block seems unusually good or bad, play another before deciding.

Lucky New Year among Asian-themed slots

The studio has several games on similar themes, from Golden Ox to Lady of the Moon. Lucky New Year is the most celebratory of the three in tone; try them back to back in demo to see which atmosphere you prefer. The same game is available for real money at the casinos below.
