Gryphon's Gold: a mythical guardian of treasure

Legends of the gryphon

In medieval bestiaries the gryphon guarded gold, and that is exactly the role it plays here. The reels of Gryphon's Gold are dressed in a fantasy style, with treasures, mythical symbols and card values against a dark, regal backdrop, while the gryphon itself is the symbol that carries the theme. Everything glows gold, which makes winning lines easy to spot.

It runs on the usual five reels and three rows, so there is nothing new to learn about the layout if you have played Novomatic before.

The features to check

Gryphon's Gold is built around the familiar trio of wild, scatter and free games. The wild helps to complete paylines, and the scatter, landing in sufficient numbers, sets off the free games round. For the exact details, such as which symbol plays which role and what happens during the bonus, the help screen is the reliable source. Read it when you first open the demo.

A Deluxe edition of the game exists as well, with a cleaner finish and the same mythical theme.

How to test Gryphon's Gold free

The demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits, without sign-up or download. Try a two-part session. First, 100 spins at a stake equal to £0.10 to get the feel. Then 150 more at £0.20, paying attention to the free games: how long the wait was, how the round went and how your balance looked afterwards.

The point is not to win virtual credits but to understand the game's pace. A slot you enjoy for its theme can still be the wrong one if its rhythm frustrates you.

Gamble and final thoughts

As in the studio's other classics, wins can go on the card gamble. Red or black, double or nothing. Gryphon's Gold suits players who like fantasy themes with a traditional structure. The same game is available for real money at the casinos listed below.
