Book of Magic: EGT’s version of the book formula

A familiar structure

Book slots follow a pattern that players recognise instantly, and Book of Magic sticks to it. Five reels, three rows, a set of card royals for the small wins and a handful of themed symbols for the bigger ones: here that means a wizard, magical artefacts and the book itself. The book is both wild and scatter. It substitutes for other symbols on the lines, and three or more anywhere on the reels start the free spins.

The special symbol

Before the free spins begin, one regular symbol is chosen at random as the special symbol for the round. During the free spins, whenever enough of that symbol lands to form a win, it expands to fill its whole reel and can pay across lines even when the reels are not adjacent. That expansion is the heart of the game. A premium symbol chosen as special can turn an ordinary round into a memorable one; a low card royal tends to give smaller, more frequent pays.

Landing more books during the round can extend it, so it is worth keeping an eye on the reels even after the bonus has started.

Base game and gamble

Between bonuses, Book of Magic plays like a classic line slot, with the book helping out as a wild. Any win can be gambled on the colour of a hidden card, the usual EGT double-or-nothing option.

The demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no account. Because the bonus is everything here, plan a longer session: 300 spins at the equivalent of £0.10 a line, noting each special symbol you were given and what the round paid. A few bonuses in, you will see how much the choice of symbol shapes the outcome. The same game runs for real money at the casinos listed below.
