Choy Sun Doa: the God of Wealth on 243 ways

Prosperity, Aristocrat style

Choy Sun Doa is the God of Wealth, and the game that carries his name has been a fixture in Asian-themed rows of Aristocrat cabinets for years. Online, it uses the Reel Power system: five reels, three rows and no paylines, with 243 ways to win from left to right. Symbols include koi, gold and jade treasures and card ranks, all on a red background that never lets you forget the theme.

Choy Sun Doa himself is the wild, and he only appears on the middle three reels.

The free games choice

Three gold ingots on reels one, two and three start the bonus. Instead of a fixed number of spins, you're offered several options. More spins come with lower multipliers; fewer spins come with higher ones. Those multipliers work through the wild: when Choy Sun Doa helps form a win during the round, it is multiplied by one of the values from the option you picked.

This choice is the reason people come back. You can play it safe with a long run of small wins, or go short and sharp. Whichever you take, the wild has to show up for the multipliers to matter.

Choy Sun Doa free play: a test plan

With 1,000 virtual credits, no download and no account, the demo lets you compare the options without risking anything:

• Set a stake equivalent to £0.25 and play until the ingots land.
• Choose the longest option the first time and the shortest the next, then repeat.
• Keep track of how often the wild landed in each round and how much its multipliers added.

After four or five bonuses you will know whether you prefer the slow build or the quick gamble.
