Pirate Gold Deluxe: the same treasure, a bigger crew

The first thing you notice is the cast. Where the original Pirate Gold leaned on props, Deluxe puts characters front and centre: a grinning, bearded captain in a feathered hat, with a woman buccaneer at his shoulder, against a moonlit port. Pragmatic Play clearly wanted the sequel to feel like a bigger production, and the animations, music and symbol art all reflect that.

Money symbols, upgraded

The heart of the game is still the coin: money symbols that land with a value attached and pay out under the conditions set in the paytable. Deluxe builds a more elaborate feature around them than the first game had. The best advice is practical: before spinning, read the rules screen in the demo to see how coins are collected and what can increase them in this version. Knowing that turns a screen of shiny coins into something you can actually follow.

Original or Deluxe?

If you liked the simplicity of Pirate Gold, you may find Deluxe busier. If you felt the original was a little bare, Deluxe is the answer. A third title, Pirate Golden Age, continues the series with yet another treatment of treasure and gold. The three are close in theme but not interchangeable, so it pays to try them in turn.

Running the Pirate Gold Deluxe demo

The demo comes with 1,000 virtual credits and needs no account. Play 200 spins at around 20p and log every feature trigger, then do the same on the original Pirate Gold. Compare how often coins appear, how often the bonus arrives and how big the gaps are between good rounds. The game plays in any mobile browser.

A last tip: keep an eye on the coin values rather than the number of coins. A screen full of small amounts can be worth less than two well-placed big ones, and the demo is the place to learn that without paying for the lesson.
