Ramses II: Egypt without the book

A different kind of Egyptian slot

Novomatic's catalogue has plenty of Egypt in it, and the obvious comparison is Book of Ra. Ramses II is not a book game. There is no symbol that chooses itself and expands across the reels. Instead the game uses a more classic set-up: a wild pharaoh, a scatter and a free games round, on five reels and three rows with gold and sandstone everywhere.

That makes it a good option for players who like the theme but find the book games too all-or-nothing.

Pharaoh wild and the free games

Ramses himself is the wild, substituting for other symbols to finish paylines. The scatter starts the free games when enough land anywhere in view. The help screen lists exactly how many free games you receive and any multiplier applied to wins during them, so open it in the demo before you start counting.

Because the feature does not depend on one lucky expanding symbol, bonus rounds tend to vary less from one to the next than they do in Book of Ra. That impression is worth checking for yourself over a few rounds.

Playing the Ramses II demo

The Ramses II demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits, no sign-up and no download. Play 250 spins at a stake equal to £0.20 and keep a quick tally of each free games round. If you know Book of Ra, play the same number of spins there too, at the same stake, and compare: which one kept your balance steadier, and which one felt more exciting?

Ramses II Deluxe and the gamble

There is also a Deluxe edition of the game with refreshed visuals. In both, the classic card gamble follows each win: guess the colour, double or lose. Try it in free play, then decide whether it has a place in your sessions. The same slot can be played for real money at the casinos listed below.
