Banana Splash: a monkey, a beach and a lot of fruit

Holiday colours

Banana Splash is not a slot that takes itself seriously. The reels are full of tropical fruit and beach props in loud yellows and blues, and a grinning monkey runs the show. If Sizzling Hot is the pub fruit machine, this is its beach-bar cousin, with more character and a bonus round added.

It uses the five-reel, three-row format that Novomatic applies to most of its classics, and the controls are the same as in the studio's other games, so anyone who has played Book of Ra or Dolphin's Pearl will feel at home within a spin or two.

Features in brief

The game relies on a wild symbol to complete paylines and a scatter that triggers free games. The rules screen shows which symbols play those roles, how many scatters you need and what the free games include. Have a look before you start the demo, because Banana Splash and its later sibling Bananas go Bahamas are easy to confuse, and their details are not identical.

How to play Banana Splash free

Open the Banana Splash demo and you get 1,000 virtual credits with no sign-up and no download. The fun of a game like this is in the pace, so play it as you would normally, at a stake equal to £0.10 or £0.20, for 200 spins or so. Count how many times the free games arrive and roughly what they pay compared with the base game.

If the bonus refuses to show up, that is useful information too. It tells you how much patience the game asks of you before you consider playing it for money.

The gamble and the verdict

Every win can be put on the card gamble, double or nothing on the colour. Use the free demo to try it a few times, then decide. Banana Splash suits short, relaxed sessions. The same game is available for real money at the casinos listed below.
