King of the Jungle: Gamomat's lion rules the reels

Out on the savannah

Gamomat is usually associated with book slots and arcade-style fruit games, so King of the Jungle is a welcome change of scene. The reels sit against an African sunset, with a crowned lion as the star and other animals of the plains alongside him. The card ranks provide the smaller wins. The art is warm and bold, in oranges and golds.

The lion is the symbol to learn. His role in the game, along with the trigger for the free games and the line layout, is explained in the paytable.

How the game is structured

The base game pays on lines across the reels, with the animals forming the more valuable combinations. A free games feature provides the bigger moments; the info screen sets out how it is triggered and what happens during the round. Gamomat's gamble options appear after wins in the base game, and as ever, they're entirely optional.

The overall rhythm is that of a classic video slot: a steady base game punctuated by features. Nothing complicated, which makes it a pleasant game for unhurried sessions.

King of the Jungle free play: a sensible test

The demo gives you 1,000 virtual credits; no account or download is needed. Choose a stake, perhaps £0.20 equivalent, and play 300 spins. Track two things: the number of spins between features and what each feature returns compared with what you spent waiting. That simple pair of figures says more about the game than any description.

If you enjoy it, Gamomat also released Golden Nights and Red Hot Firepot editions. Playing each briefly at the same stake is the easiest way to decide which suits you.

Our view

King of the Jungle is a solid wildlife slot with a strong central character and an easy-going pace. A good pick when you want something other than books or fruit from Gamomat. The same game runs for real money at the casinos below.
