Aztec Gems: three reels, five lines and a multiplier wheel

Small grid, one clever extra

Most modern slots pile feature on feature. Aztec Gems goes the other way. Pragmatic Play gives you a 3x3 grid, five paylines and a handful of gemstones set into stone masks, and then adds one thing on the right-hand side: a separate reel full of multipliers.

Every spin, that reel stops on a value. If the main reels form a winning line, the win is multiplied by whatever the multiplier reel shows. A modest line of green gems becomes a decent result when the extra reel lands high, and a big symbol line paired with a strong multiplier is the best moment the game has to offer.

How a spin plays out

The three main reels spin and stop, the multiplier reel stops a beat later, and the result is settled in one go. There's no tumble, no respin and no scatter to chase. The wild, when it appears, helps complete lines across the five paylines.

That simplicity makes Aztec Gems fast. You can get through a lot of spins in a few minutes, which suits short sessions and players who enjoy the old fruit-machine feeling with a slightly modern twist.

What to look for in the Aztec Gems demo

The free play version comes with 1,000 virtual credits and needs no sign-up or download. Try 200 spins at a fixed stake, the equivalent of £0.20 or £0.50, and watch the multiplier reel rather than the gems. You'll notice that the low values turn up far more often than the high ones; what matters is how often a high value coincides with a win.

Because there's no bonus round, the session is a steady stream of small outcomes rather than long droughts broken by one feature. Some players find that relaxing, others find it lacks a goal. A few hundred spins in demo mode will tell you which camp you're in.

Is it worth playing?

If you like classic three-reel slots, yes: it's one of the cleaner examples around. If you need free spins to stay interested, it may feel thin. Either way, the same game runs for real money at the casinos below.
